URMA celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. At the same time, Oliver Berner completes the third generation of the family business on the Board of Directors and thus ensures the succession together with his siblings.

At the end of the week, the family-owned company URMA in Rupperswil celebrates its 60th anniversary with 130 employees, customers and partners. The succession plan is secured. After Jessica and Yannick Berner from the third generation of entrepreneurs have already been involved in the responsibility, Oliver Berner (29) joined them in July. He complements his siblings on the Board of Directors and takes over the management of the Swiss machine trading division.

"I am looking forward to complementing and continuing our family business together with a well-coordinated team," says Oliver Berner, Director Machines URMA AG. After gaining valuable experience with an international industrial company - with a focus on trade and direct sales in Switzerland - Berner now joins the Rupperswil-based SME. Oliver Berner studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and has already worked for several years at URMA in project management. URMA develops and manufactures precision tool systems that are used worldwide in the machining of precise bores. In Switzerland, URMA sells and services CNC machine tools from Haas Automation and industrial 3D printers for metal, plastic and composite from EOS and Markforged.

The family-owned company has undergone significant changes in its 60-year history. From the original mechanical workshop, URMA has developed into an international and highly automated industrial company under the leadership of CEO and Chairman of the Board Urs W. Berner. The third generation wants to build on this and use new technologies and digitalization as an opportunity to remain competitive on international markets with Switzerland as a production location. They are also investing heavily in the factory building and employees this year. "It is important to us to think long-term and act sustainably. We want to be a modern employer for our employees," emphasizes Oliver Berner.
