What is Markforged FX10™?

Markforged FX10 is a next-generation industrial 3D printer for composite materials. It is the larger and faster successor to the popular X7 series, which has already provided stable parts and a huge return on investment for thousands of manufacturing companies around the world.

With its increased build volume, FX10 is faster than comparable models on the market. The intelligent storage system offers space for up to four reels and enables highly automated production. With the improved, modular fifth-generation composite material system, the printing process is more accurate and reliable than ever before. In addition to the FX10, the X7 will also remain in our range.

Innovative and efficient: discover the main features of the FX10™ 3D printer

  • A large installation space with heated chamber and print bed.
  • The patented process with continuous fibre reinforcement can print parts from composite material that are strong enough to replace machined metal.
  • Precise high-speed printing (about twice as fast as the X7).
  • A laser micrometer for quality assurance scans parts during printing to ensure the highest quality and optimise machine calibration.
  • The image processing module (available soon) optimises print performance and provides information on the device status.
  • The user-friendly printing process combines a simple user interface with automated functions such as coil changing for continuous printing and machine calibration.
  • Modular printing system with easily interchangeable system components for additional printing modes and compatibility with future materials.

Why does the FX10™ exist?

The Markforged FX10 was developed to efficiently, reliably and cost-effectively overcome a variety of manufacturing challenges. The aim of the mission was to make printing complex parts as easy as possible.

On factory floors, where quick solutions are required for setting up, retooling and maintaining tools, the procurement of conventionally machined parts is often expensive, time-consuming and requires experienced specialists. Over-reliance on traditional manufacturing methods can affect the speed of work, impact budgets and cause extended downtime.

Although there are many additive manufacturing solutions available, conventional 3D plastic printers do not offer the necessary accuracy, repeatability and strength for industrial use.

With the Markforged FX10, a powerful advancement in carbon fibre printers, you can not only replace machined parts cost-effectively, but also significantly expand your range of applications. The FX10 enables you to increase the profitability and productivity of your company in a simple and efficient way:

  • Reduce parts costs by up to 90 % and shorten lead times from months to days.
  • Increase your production volume and reduce operating costs at the same time.
  • Reduce physical inventory with a secure, cloud-based digital inventory.
  • Keep your production lines running by manufacturing spare parts on-demand.

Fast 3D printing for large parts with the FX10™

The impressive installation volume of the FX10 of 375 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm, which can withstand temperatures of up to 60° C, enables the production of larger components. With its impressive printing speed, the FX10 outperforms comparable models by a factor of two, setting new standards in the industry.

With the FX10, you can print a diverse range of industrial parts on-demand – faster and more cost-effectively than ever before! Increase your productivity and optimise your manufacturing processes with the powerful Markforged FX10 3D printer.

Verifiable accuracy: optical sensors mounted on the print head

Even though additive manufacturing has already paved the way for significant cost savings and process improvements, it has so far been difficult to make it the basis of large-scale manufacturing processes without repeatable, verifiable accuracy.

How do you ensure that your 3D printed parts fulfil the tolerance requirements? The FX10 contains two optical sensors that provide insights into part quality and the condition of the printer.

The laser micrometer scans the parts during printing and actively supports machine calibration. The scan data is analysed with the Markforged Inspection software to check the dimensions and performs quality control directly after the printing process is complete.

During calibration, the laser scans precision-cut grooves on the print bed and automatically compensates for errors, increasing the printer's accuracy.

The image processing module (coming soon) captures detailed images of calibration parts to optimise printer performance while providing insight into the condition of the printer.

Digital inventory reduces storage costs

Stocking physical inventories is expensive and time-consuming. In the past, however, storing large quantities of spare parts was the only reliable way to avoid downtime.

With digital inventories, you can now respond to outages with little effort. Securely store geometry data of your parts in a digital inventory in Markforged's cloud-based Eiger™ software and print them as needed. A digital inventory can free up capital that would otherwise be tied up in physical stock and at the same time prevent the waste of valuable storage space.

However, the right 3D printing platform is required for the successful realisation of a digital inventory. FX10's ability to produce high quality parts quickly and with verifiable results makes digital inventory modelling a breeze for manufacturers with stringent quality requirements and no margin for error.

Future-proof printing with modular print architecture

Our efforts to be future-proof are key to our goal of developing versatile production tools directly where they are needed. The Markforged FX10 is the result of a carefully thought-out, flexible machine architecture that enables effortless upgrading. With easily replaceable system components, the FX10 creates space for future printing functions. This ensures that your printer can continuously respond to changing production requirements.
